A CALMER WAY TO IMPORT

Three steps. One less surprise.

01 / COMPARE

Start with a backup.

Export your current products. Add that file alongside your edited copy to see what changed.

02 / REVIEW

Look at the risky bits.

Check blanked values, price swings, and identity changes. Confirm any suggested formatting fixes.

03 / VERIFY

Take it to Shopify.

Keep your original backup. Review Shopify’s import preview and test a small product group before a large update.

CLEAR BOUNDARIES

A useful check.
Not an import guarantee.

CatalogGuard inspects the files you choose. It can’t see your store, validate every Shopify field, test image URLs, or know whether a price change was intentional.

Why are blank cells risky?

When overwriting matching handles, an included blank field can clear existing data. An omitted column is different. The comparison highlights those cases separately.

Do repeated handles mean duplicate products?

No. A product can span variant and image rows. We group repeated handles, skip expected continuation blanks, and flag duplicate handle-plus-option identities instead.

Can I use a supplier spreadsheet?

Download sample original CSVDownload sample edited CSVOnly after mapping it to Shopify’s product CSV format. Unknown columns are preserved and flagged for review. We don’t invent field mappings or convert currencies.

Where do my files go?

CatalogGuard reads files in your browser’s memory. The app has no file-upload endpoint, tracking cookies, or saved catalog history. Hosting may use security cookies. Hosted pages send fixed anonymous aggregate counts unless disabled or blocked by GPC/Do Not Track. No input, file data, referrer, wallet address or visitor ID is included. Disabling saves only an off preference on this site. Offline downloads send no measurement. You can stop sharing at any time. Reloading or clearing the session removes the loaded data. The hosting provider may keep ordinary page-request logs; file names and contents are never sent by this app.

What isn’t covered?

Store-specific metafield rules, taxonomies, fulfillment setup, market currencies, inventory locations, and live import behavior need Shopify-side review. A clean preflight doesn’t mean an import is safe.
